David Colwell's Trannon C1 reclining rattan chair with footstool is part mid-century modern classicism, part French colonial aesthetic, and thoroughly TreeHugger. Practical and adjustable in three positions, the chair, which has earned a permanent spot in London's V&A mueum, is made from steam-bent ash (advantages=clean power, low-no scrap wood, and youthfully-forested trees). Like all of Colwell's designs, sutainablilty is the first design motive. As the designer puts it, "Really good design is about visualising a better tomorrow." ::David Colwell Design [by MO]
