Objects Created from Recycled Materials by WWU Students
by TreeHugger on 11.24.04
Clever students from Western Washington University's interior design program have created neat-o objets from recycled materials, like the shabby-chic pitcher made from a coffee can seen here. Wallets and bags smartly made from existing left-overs also make great holiday gifts, so if you're in the Bellingham, WA area, you can purchase these products locally. Well, the coffee can pitcher is nice, but the FDA would have something to say about it. Many times the sealant used in those will release heavy metals into the food/drink if it's too hot. Thus, it can be great for a can for storage, but not for hot liquid.
I'll stick to certified ceramic (some ceramic from China can release cadmium and whatnot from the glazes too!). Nice idea though.
