Meaghan O'Neill!

Meaghan O’Neill lives in Newport, Rhode Island, where, when she’s not chained to her desk, she enjoys the outdoors on a regular basis. She’s as curious as a twelve-year-old boy when it comes to backhoes, buildings, and boats, all of which she has written about. She thinks design rocks and could be the solution to many of the environmental problems that our global population faces today. When she’s not writing, she can often be found kayaking, snowboarding, or feeding her many pets. The ::Omlet tops her Christmas list.

Meaghan,
You recently wrote a review on a shower design that a couple other designers and I submitted for the Coram Sustainable Design Awards and I want to thank you for your insightful understanding of our intent.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints and the rigors of working cooperatively between New York and Ontario, our entry was not adequately illustrated. Many observers failed to comprehend the value of our driving philosophy that "...trying to modify people’s behavior would be more difficult than redesigning the existing system," as you put it.
I share your sense that design can play a significant role in addressing many of the environmental problems we face, a philosophy I embraced when I was first confronted by the understanding of the potential harm design can do while a student at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD for those who don't live in RI).
Anyway, I'll spare you my usual rant and leave you with my appreciation and thanks and best wishes for the New Year.

re: startech:
thanks for looking into it. i used to own a couple shares, but they are over the counter, so considered unreliable as a company.
i sure would like to get out to boston to see their demonstration system.
glad to be of service!

Hi,
The link in your Kwytza Kraft chopstick lamp article seems to be dead, but this worked:

Reminds me of the popsicle stick crafts I did in grade school. =)

I recently came across the article about the cork mosaic tiles. We are currently reflooring the bathrooms and would love to use this but I'm having trouble finding a source. Any help?
Creepy! Are you my doppleganger? I'm in CA and pretty much do the same stuff, I'm a naturalist at a nature center, have too many pets, love outdoors, ect...
Meaghan:
Are you the dog trainer or the design writer? I've come across both of you in my Google searches (and other places). Weeeeird!
Signed,
Your Doppelganger
