HP's Corn Printer

Hewlett-Packard has already incorporated some recyclables into its desktop scanner and has been encouraging users to send back ink cartridges for recycling for a while. Now the company is working on a biodegradeable desktop printer that's composed of material made from corn. We know there's been lots of haggling over the use of corn as bio-polymer (the argument is that some producers are using genetically-modified crops, a potentially hazardous resource), but we think the basic idea remains a good one. You can't just throw this printer in your vegetable garden and wait for it to go bye-bye, but under the right conditions, it will indeed disappear! ::Wired News [by MO]
