Church: Good for the Soul, Bad for the Lungs?

Though going to church may still be good for the soul, scientists at Maastricht University in Amsterdam have found that it may not as good for the lungs. That’s because the candles and incense being burned in churches can release dangerous levels of potentially carcinogenic particles into the indoor environment, according to their research published this week in the European Respiratory Journal. After a day of burning, researchers found about 20 times as much hazardous particles in the air in a church as than near a high-traffic road. Yet another reason to use soy and beeswax candles, and to pray for change. ::Yahoo (Reuters) [by MO]
