Let's get this out of the way first: I've never celebrated St. Patrick's day. It's nothing personal - I look terrible in a shamrock headband. But I thought in the spirit of this oh holiest day of imbibing, I would finally succumb and herald the occasion with a couple ways to booze (responsibly, folks) TreeHugger style.... Read the full story on TreeHugger

Bjork Releases Environmental Documentary... and other Eco-Musician Updates

While the musical impact of Bjork is clear (no need to explain the genius) and the fashion impact apparent (no need to INSERT ANOTHER SWAN OUTFIT JOKE HERE), her global environmental impact is on the rise with today's release of Nattura-Summer 2008 on iTunes. It's the artist's swan song to Iceland and the climate issues it faces (fine, I couldn't resist the pun). More on Bjork after the jump, along with some updates on how other musicians (The Indigo Girls, Annie Lennox, Sigor Ros and more) are currently singing green.... Read the full story on TreeHugger

My New Favorite Eco-Conscious Salon...that I'll Actually Go Back To

I've had my share of eco hair and body treatments, sampled a range of natural cosmetics and experimented endlessly with products that claim to do everything from save an acre of rainforest to brighten my skin (I'm pretty sure we know which one is more important, but also often sure that neither happens). In short, a lot of us know that the greenest products, spas or salons aren't always the chicest or most effective. Which is why my new favorite beauty destination is NYC's ION Studio. For why, follow the jump.... Read the full story on TreeHugger

New York Fashion Week: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

You can take the Adirondacks - come February, there's no tent I'd rather be in than Bryant Park. This year, Fall Fashion Week was a mix of many things: bright neon from those designers wanting us to hope, dark fabrics from those wanting us to mope, and the usual mix of editors, stylists and celebrities (everywhere I turned around, was Kanye West. Yes, we're very good friends now). This year, things leaned a little green - but not in the ways you'd expect. Now: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of New York Fashion Week(after the jump)...

Some might say if you have a hangover, you might already be green (not the environmental kind of green, ahem). But if you want to cure that throbbing headache from last night's Christmas party or holiday get-together, take a few suggestions from TreeHugger's list of the top green hangover remedies. Because if you are going to be green in the face, you might as well be green all the way. -Tis the season...... Read the full story on TreeHugger

Holiday Gift Guide: For the Pop Culture Fan

This holiday season, give the gift of pop culture-and environmental responsibility. We prove that you don't have to sacrifice eco-values-or blow your budget-for the music, celebrity or TV fan in your life. These gifts, some of which even benefit charities and green causes, reach out to every music lover, magazine junkie, celebrity addict, and TV fan in your life while targeting the eco-warrior in each of them; oh, and did we mention, they're also totally affordable and fun? Sure beats a Paris Hilton bobble head. ... Read the full story on TreeHugger

HGTV "Design on a Dime" host Creates Eco-friendly Coffee Table - Proceeds for Charity (50-Buck Home Makeover Not Included)

Willie Nelson certainly knows a thing or to about sustainable food and farm policies -he's the leader of Farm Aid, and one of the most visible figures in the move towards biodiesel. So what does this onetime Kucinich supporter have to say to our President-Elect? Well, a lot. He released today on the farm-aid Web site an open letter to Obama, calling for policies that support a family farm system of agriculture. Will the next letter demand Obama reform marijuana laws? Hmmm...we shall see.... Read the full story on TreeHugger

Bonnaroo Festival Given Outstanding Green Festival Award, No Word on if Acid Flashbacks are Eco-Friendly

Global Green, Hollywood's favorite environmental non-profit, is showing they have the substance to back the style: last week, they launched their pilot program to create five green schools serving low income children in the Los Angeles area. On October fourth in LA, Senator Hillary Clinton is leading the charge to raise money for her candidate of choice-Barack Obama-and heighten awareness for his environmental platforms in a suitable carbon-conscious environment with Angelenos Go Green for Obama. The slight irony that comes with a politician preaching about clean energy policies in front of blaring studio lights, a rainforest's worth of confetti or and enough blue and red balloons to clog a great lake may fall on deaf ears-but this event is attempting to buck the trend and go zero-waste and carbon free. Angelenos Go Green for Obama will be short on environmental impact, but not short on star power - more on the big names after the jump. ... Read the full story on TreeHugger

TreeHugger Welcomes Marissa Moss

Sorry, this bio is not available.... Read the full story on TreeHugger
