TreeHugger's founder, Graham Hill, was honored to be selected for a group enviro shoot for the upcoming Vanity Fair green issue! It was shot this week by the lovely, talented and all around cool Mark Seliger. The shoot was quite fun and to top it off, Graham got the chance to meet up and talk shop with some green entrepreneur brethren. They were:

1) Chip Giller of Grist.org. Grist features green news via email and their site. Grist is 6 1/2 years old, hundreds of thousands of readers strong and still building momentum. Chip was passionate, had a great dry wit and yes, did look best with stubble.

2) Laurie David of stopglobalwarming.org. Close to 300,000 strong, Laurie's virtual march on Washington still needs 700,000 more! Get on over there! Laurie is a true environmental machine and a joy to be around. I'm scared to take off her stopglobalwarming bracelet in case I bump into her... and that's the kind of personality we need more of. Thanks for the drinks!

3) Jen Boulden and Heather Stephenson of IdealBite.com. Hot, energetic and very fun, we can understand how these 2 dynamos have so quickly built a large newsletter audience around their useful, daily green tips. Heck, Jen can even ride an electonic bull!

TreeHugger looks forward to meeting up in person with other North American cats like Worldchanging, ZeroFootprint, Care2, Inhabitat and many more. Onwards and upwards....... Read the full story on TreeHugger

Please Nominate Treehugger for 2006 Bloggies!

The nominations for the Bloggies are winding down, and we would like to ask again that you keep Treehugger in mind for nomination. If you haven't already posted your nominations please do so now; and if you like us, please nominate Treehugger for Best Topical Blog!

Last year we were finalists for Best Topical Blog! And, like my dad always said "Second place is for LOSERS!" So . . . give us a hand, show your support and take a minute to nominate us for Best Topical Blog.

Important:

1 Nominate TreeHugger only under "Best Topical Blog":
While we may fit into several other categories we don't want to dilute the nominations.
How about makezine.com for "Best New Blog"? and Worldchanging.com for "Best Group Blog"?

2 Nominate at least 2 other blogs in other categories.
This is necessary for your nomination(s) to count.

3 Nominate Now!
The nominations have a very small window - the deadline is 10 pm EST Jan 10th!

Many thanks for your support!

We've provided instructions below for anyone who needs assistance in setting this up. If anything is unclear, please email tech(at)treehugger(dot)com.

Choose your Browser:

IE FireFox/Netscape Other

Instructions on Making TH Your Homepage With Internet Explorer

On the top of your browser window find the Tools menu. Click on it, and on the dropdown that appears, click on Internet Options.

Next, in the window that appears you have two options. 1) If you are currently on the Treehugger.com homepage, you can click the Use Current button, and Internet Explorer will automatically take the page you are on and change your homepage to that page. Or, 2) if you want to make sure that TH is being made your homepage, type http://treehugger.com manually into the field and click Apply at the bottom of the window. Treehugger will now be your homepage!
Instructions on Making TH Your Homepage With FireFox/Mozilla/Netscape

In your browser locate the Tools menu at the top of your browser window. On the dropdown menu choose Options (the last item on the list).

Next, on the window that pops up, you can manually enter http://treehugger.com into the location field, or click the Use Current Page button. When finished, click OK and your homepage will now be Treehugger.com!

Another option, which is slightly quicker, is to click on a link to treehugger (like here), but instead of letting go, hold down your left mouse button and drag that link up to the home icon on your browser's address bar. This will prompt your browser to ask if you would like Treehugger to be set as your homepage, and clicking Yes will complete the process!

** NOTE ** Due to the customization options available for Firefox and Mozilla steps may vary

Instructions on Making TH Your Homepage With Other Browsers

If your using a browser other than those listed above, here are some tips on how to make TH your homepage.

In almost every browser you will have a row of options (menus) at the top of your browser's window. Like listed above, the one you will need to find is normally titled Tools. An alternative may be Preferences.

Once you locate your menu that stores the tools for your browser, you will need to look for a choice called Options or Preferences. A window will than pop up, where you can change settings for your browser. In most cases the option to change what your homepage is one of the first options that appears on the screen. If it is not, click the other tab options in that window until you find the one you are looking for. Once located you can type in http://treehugger.com into the field. Than you will need to find the option that tells the browser to save your changes (normally a button that will say Save, Done, Apply, or Ok).

Lindsey is obsessed with all things tech, science and web related, and spends her "days" designing and programming for the web. Lindsey loves using PhotoShop to create web graphics, and is a focused designer who uses XHTML, CSS and web standards in her designs.

Lindsey has earned credits towards her English and IT degrees from the local SUNY college and Marist College of Poughkeepsie, NY. When not helping her favorite blogging crew at Treehugger, Lindsey spends time working on DIY projects that range from cross stitching, creating her own (and her children's) clothing, knitting and crocheting, wood working and much more. In her spare time Lindsey helped found and organize her local writing group "Stroke of the Pen", who publish the creative writing magazine "Insights" bi-annually.

When not glued to her laptop Lindsey spends her time with her family: her best friend David, four year old son Mason, and soon to be born daughter Winter (1/15/06).... Read the full story on TreeHugger
