Weekday Vegetarian: Homemade Irish Cream

I don't usually write about drinks, but seeing that Christmas is only 4 days away, I thought I would give you an alternative to the usual egg nog. This Irish cream was luscious and unbelievably decadent tasting, with a rather satisfying kick to it. My husband hates Bailey's Irish Cream, but his eyes widened when my daughter and I gave him a taste of this homemade version. "That's actually quite good" he said. High praise, indeed.
Whether you sample this with your Hanukkah potato latkes, or your Christmas cookies, it's a wonderful drink to have in front of a fireplace with family and friends. We served it at our Christmas party last week, and it was a big hit.
This recipe, from the website Tea With Me, contains raw eggs, so make sure you don't have a samonella problem with your local eggs. The original recipe says you can keep it in an airtight container for approximately 12 days in the refrigerator, but I'm not sure I would push it that far. I would have said 3 or 4 days tops, but it's so delicious, I don't think it would last that long in any case. I wouldn't let my daughter keep it out on the drinks table the night of the party, we kept it in the fridge, just to be safe.
Homemade Irish Cream
1 cup Irish Whiskey
1 cup 18% cream
1 tbsp chocolate syrup
1 can condensed milk
1. Place all ingredients in a blender, mix for 30 seconds to a minute or till combined.
2. Chill before drinking, and keep in an airtight container.
