WanderLust Festival Unites Sustainability With Simplicity in Tahoe

Dreamers, yogis, greens, lovers of the outdoors and fans of indie, alternative music, rejoice! The Wanderlust Festival is coming to town. Bringing with it some of the hottest names in music and some of the most experienced yogis around to offer a unique experience in a unique location. One part music festival, one part yoga retreat, the festival aims to combine artists and persons interested in simple, sustainable lifestyles at possibly one of the most beautiful sites in the US. Food, music, yoga, all in one breath-taking location - Lake Tahoe - what could be better? The three day festival will incorporate several stages to cover all artists with the main stage at the top of the ski lift. Hopefully they'll keep the "rocking out" to a minimum so as not to mess with the meditation and yoga sessions.

The music acts include Michael Franti & Spearhead, Spoon, Jenny Lewis, Rogue Wave, Andrew Bird, Gillian Welch, Broken Social Scene, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Girl Talk, Amanda Palmer, MC Yogi, Kaki King, Mates of State and more to be announced. Maybe you're not into music, but if you are into yoga, then this list of teachers should provide some balance. John Friend, Shiva Rea, Duncan Wong, Sianna Sherman, and Rusty Wells, just to name a few will be on hand leading sessions and imparting their own batch of wisdom.

Promoting a sustainable lifestyle also means hosting a sustainable festival and the folks at Wanderlust have not forgotten this as they attempt to be a "zero impact" event. First, they have different stations throughout the festival to collect garbage, recycling, compostables, and bio-plastics. Each station will also include staff to explain the process and keep the mixing to a minimum. All food is sourced locally, including a farmers market on site. All cutlery used will be compostable and there will be water filling stations throughout the event to eliminate the sale and use of plastic water bottles. Attendees can also choose to add USD$5 to their ticket price in order to also purchase carbon offsets for their attendance at the event.

Tickets are available in a variety of price levels and to accommodate a variety of interests - from one to three day passes, lift tickets to the main stage and tickets for those just interested in a weekend full of yoga sessions. The Wanderlust Festival will be held July 24-26 in Lake Tahoe at Squaw Valley. :Wanderlust Festival
