Harnessing Light and Water for World Water Day (Video)

From March 17th to 22nd, a very unusual billboard occupied a central position in the Place du Palais Royal in Paris, France. Contracted by Solidarite International, the Aquascript sign used light and carefully timed droplets of water to create an arresting display in celebration of World Water Day.

Solidarite International wanted to bring attention to the global water crisis and the devastating impact the lack of clean drinking water has on impoverished people around the world.

As amazing as the Aquascript billboard was, the numbers that illustrate the world water crisis are even more staggering. Around the world, more than a billion people lack access to clean drinking water. Dirty water and poor sanitation claims the lives of 1.5 million children every year.

Placing this shimmering wall of water in the middle of Paris, Solidarite International hoped, would attract the attention of bystanders—and rally them to the cause.
