Fertile Ground: an Environmental Bookstore

fertile%20ground.JPG In this world of Amazon, monster bookstores and the Long Tail, it is a wonder that anyone still runs a specialty bookstore. Yet they have a place in our hearts; they are usually run by dedicated people who know their stock and their customers, and truly love books. Like other Small-Marts, more of the money you spend in them stays in your community, and the stock more accurately reflects the interests and desires of the community it services. We never buy an architectural book anywhere but Ballenfords, and our new hangout is Toronto's Fertile Ground, devoted to books on the environment. Its selection runs the gamut from A to W (activism to water), from the obscure and technical to the popular. For those not lucky enough to have such a place in your town, you can order online. ::Fertile Ground via ::On Nature
