The Dutch are still enamoured of the Cradle to Cradle concept and are currently hosting the exhibition Cradle to Cradle -Hype or Future in the Centre Céramique in Maastricht. The aim of the show is to explain to the general public what Cradle to Cradle, the waste=food way of remaking the way we make things, designed by Michael Braungart and William McDonough, stands for, how it is put into practice at present and how it will be applied in the future in the province of Limburg. This should inspire people to join the Cradle to Cradle way of thinking, and motivate them to work in more sustainable ways. Read on to have a look at the exhibition. The exhibition at the Centre Céramique is shown at three levels:
Level 1 consists of a huge pile of trash that people can enter to be shown a 5 minute documentary about Waste=Food by Rob van Hattem. Outside, the principles of Cradle to Cradle (C2C) are illustrated and its 5 challenges are outlined: the ecological challenge, the design challenge, the energy challenge, the economic challenge and the logistics challenge.
At level 2 you can see some Cradle to Cradle showcases of projects by companies mostly from the Limburg region. Different production processes and products are exhibited, making reference to the previously mentioned challenges.

Level 3 is all about sharing and creating opinions, about whether Cradle to Cradle is hype or really the future. Various people from the industry in Limburg give their personal opinion on Cradle to Cradle, and people can gather information to take home. The full documentary Waste=Food and more can be seen on TV screens and there is a discussion table to talk and read some Cradle to Cradle books. Here you can also see a model of the planned sustainable swimming pool that is to be built in Maastricht.
The exhibition has been put together by Marion van der Kleij and the Qreamteam, and is on show at the Centre Céramique in Maastricht until February 2009. Thank you Teun v.
