The Brita Climate Ride's Wind Power Pedalers team and Bitches on Bikes will host a benefit at New York City lounge The Eldrige on Thursday, August 20, 2009. The event will feature a silent auction curated by Gitana Rosa Gallery, a Brooklyn-based green gallery that promotes sustainable living through art. The auction will raise money for the Wind Power Pedalers, a team pedaling in the Brita Climate Ride.

The Climate ride, a 300-mile ride on September 26-30, will bring leaders in climate change and renewable energy from NYC to Washington, D.C to meet with Congressional leaders. All funds raised through the Brita Climate Ride will benefit Focus the Nation, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, and Clean Air–Cool Planet.

Notable guests will include Rich Awn, editor-in-chief at Green Air a national news radio and interactive hub for environmental news, Shawna Seldon, wind power-pedaler and SVP at Rosen Group Public Relations, and Vanessa Liberati, executive director at Gitana Rosa Gallery. The event is also hosted by Bitches on Bikes, an informal group co-founded by Seldon, comprised of New York City professionals who organize events and participate in bike rides to benefit charities like the Multiple Sclorosis Society's Bike MS.

While this event is invite-only, donations can be made to the charity bike ride by visiting the Brita Climate Ride.
