Walter Cronkite 1916-2009

How poignant, that Walter Cronkite, who was the voice of the space program, who talked us through the first moon landing, should die just before the 40th anniversary of that event. I wish I could find the picture or him wiping his eyes as Neil Armstrong stepped out of the lunar module. I can't, but I remember it.

There is a debate about whether space exploration is green. There will be inevitable comments about "why is this on TreeHugger?". But an era of journalism just ended, and attention must be paid.
