Today, on Planet 100, the world celebrates its green buildings, supermarkets in France introduce fuel pump-style wine vending machines, and Sean Penn gets honored for his humanitarian efforts.World Green Building Day
If you're lucky enough be working or living in LEED certified building, you've got something to celebrate. Today is World Green Building Day.

It's part of the WorldGBC's annual World Green Building Week to draw attention to the role of green buildings in the creation of healthier, more sustainable communities. Australia is throwing a Green Tie Gala in Sydney, Canada is hosting a three-day architecture and design expo while the USGBC is launching a major subway campaign.

Other countries participating it the celebrations include Bulgaria, Morocco, and Singapore.

Wine Vending Machine
This week, we're got something special to raise our glasses to... supermarkets in France are installing wine vending machines, Inhabitat reports.

Patrons bring their own reusable bottle, fuel up and enjoy! While wine aficionados might turn their noses up at this wine dispenser, we could see them in the US in about a year. The wine is priced at around $2 a liter, and is a great way for wine companies to reduce their carbon footprint and high materials costs.

We'll certainly toast to that!

Penn's Passions Rewarded
Sean Penn, he former bad boy of the silver screen will be honored for his humanitarian work at a Hollywood gala over the weekend. Starz will be throwing their Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards ceremony at LA's Beverly Hilton Hotel, where they will commend Penn's for his passionate personal efforts to address Haiti's humanitarian crisis.
