German Parliament Accepts 2022 Nuke Shutdown Proposal

Here's a quick update on the situation regarding nuclear power in Germany. About a month ago, Brian wrote about a proposal by Chancellor Angela Merkel to phase out nuclear power by 2022. We also covered the resulting (sad) corollary: Merkel Says Germany Needs 20GW of Fossil-Fuel Power Plants Over Next 10 Years. Today we learn that the Germany parliament took a vote on the phase out proposal and passed it overwhelmingly (513 for, 79 against). You can get more details about it on NPR. Hopefully Germany will try to pick up the slack with renewables (maybe using wind power + compressed air storage?)
