Ecomagination a Success at Age of Two

Jeffrey Immelt, General Electric Chief Executive, has said that the ecomagination unit is on track to "blow away" its 2010 sales target of $20 billion. The unit has $50 billion worth of orders outstanding for wind turbines and other items from its green initiative, and demand is surging.

Immelt puts the success of the initiative down to increasing consumer awareness of green issues, "Green is now becoming pervasive. It is becoming universal." He was later quoted by Reuters on the likeliness of reaching and exceeding sales targets, "I don't have any doubts. It's just got that sort of momentum."

At a celebration for ecomagination's 2nd anniversary, Immelt announced eleven new products, many of which are partnerships with other large corporations. :: ENN
