"I have been in oil and gas production and exploration for over 30 years. My salary is bigger than God's. But that's OK, because I'm more useful than he is anyway."

Thus begins an explosive and bitter commentary from an apparent oil industry insider who is angry, no, furious at what she sees as total incompetence from BP and the authorities in containing and cleaning up the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. But it's not just the sheer amount of oil spilling into the Gulf that has this person so angry, nor the destruction of wildlife along the Gulf coast it is causing. It is the apparent macho culture among drilling crews that is the target here, with the author arguing that it is drilling folks' disdain and disregard for clean up procedures that is to blame for the ongoing crisis.

STRONG LANGUAGE ADVISORY: The author of this video is angry. Very angry. She uses very strong language frequently to make her point.Of course it goes without saying that an anonymous source should be taken with a grain of salt. Likewise, every industry has internal rivalries between divisions, and it is possible that this video is a reflection of such matters. But even if that were the case, I would argue it is a worrying sign of discord and a lack of communication among different arms of the same industry that should, ideally be working together on fixing this unmitigated disaster.

Take this accusation below, for example:

"BP's production folks have attended some of the best booming schools. I know this. I have seen them there. BP's drilling folks have mostly not attended booming school. Some are sent to booming school, but they largely f*** off to the bar, and their bosses sign off on that as being OK."

As I say, there are two sides to every story - and I am well aware that a video from someone (apparently) on the exploration side of things might paint drilling folks in an unfair light. I would love to hear from insiders who think that is the case here. Similarly, I have not attended booming school, so I would love to know if this lady's insights into the simplicity of the booming process is actually a fair representation.

Either way, it's clear that there is seething anger, and a growing concern, at how a disaster is rapidly becoming a catastrophe. If nothing else, this video is further evidence of that anger.

But that's enough from me. Here's the video so you can make up your own minds.

Update:There is a preamble to this video. The insider commentary I am referencing starts at around 1:52.
