Ever wonder just how great the new Audi Q7 SUV is going to be with its new turbocharged clean diesel technology? Well, now is your chance to find out with the Audi Mileage Marathon. Starting October 6th, 2008, this two week marathon will take the new diesel Audi along with a team of top U.S. executives (124 executives from various locations) across America as they demonstrate to these individuals the exceptional fuel efficiency and dynamic performance of the new clean running diesels.
The coast to coast rally kicks off in New York This Saturday, October 6th, and will finish off in Los Angeles on Saturday October 20th. The idea of the rally is to put the new diesel technology through a real world challenge, covering some 4,800 miles, monitoring its daily fuel efficiency, checking its ultra-low emissions system, and demonstrating its all around performance characteristics.

Will Feature the New Audi Q7, Q5, A4, and A3 Sportback
Audi of America Chief Executive, Johan de Nysschen, will be the leading car of the rally which will encompass some 23 Audi's, ranging from the Q7 3.0 liter TDI, the brand new Q5 3.0 TDI, the sporty Audi A4 sedan, and finally the A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI (equipped with S tronic transmission).

"Audi knows consumers are concerned about fuel economy and we want to make sure they know how Audi's TDI engineering is reshaping their options," said de Nysschen. "The Q7 TDI will be one of America's first clean, highly efficient, 7-passenger SUV, combining the power and capacity Americans expect in an SUV with notable fuel efficiency and ultra low emissions."

The New & Improved TDI
This is not the old TDI we have come to know over the years folks, but a whole new species of TDI. The new TDI we are going to see is promised to be quieter, non-smoky, have an extended highway range of 600 miles with its estimated 25 mpg, and still provide enough torque (400 lb-ft) and horsepower (233 hp) to accomplish moderate towing.

Audi has reduced approximately 90 percent of the nitrogen oxide (NOx) from the old diesel emissions using its new exhaust purifying system. The new TDI is also said to also comply with the world's most demanding emissions law – California's LEV II Bin 5, and Euro 6 norm limits planned for implementation in 2014. This should give the new TDI a fuel-efficiency advantage of up to 40 percent in comparison to normal unleaded gasoline engines.
