Americans Who Can't Afford to Keep Lawns Green Turn to Spray Paint

This is one of the strangest and most deeply American tales I've read in a while: homeowners who can no longer afford (or be bothered with) the extensive, water-intensive lawn care that's required in many developments have simply started painting their dead front yards green. The whole thing moves beyond sad and into the Kafkaesque when you note that some of the developments in question are in places like Phoenix, that are seriously strapped for water.
