Greenstart, the cleantech accelerator program that provides startups with seed money, mentoring, branding and legal advice and more over a two-month span, has announced the latest companies that have been picked to participate. Last fall, Greenstart narrowed its focus to clean IT companies, or those that were using IT solutions to help manage energy distribution and boost energy efficiency in the categories of smart grid, the built environment, transportation and consumer services.

The new batch of four companies do just that:

Spinlister - an online marketplace for peer-to-peer bike rentals

Root3 - designers of customized, energy management software for individuals and businesses

People Power - creators of cloud services & mobile apps for the Internet of Things

PVPower - a retail and planning website for solar panels and projects

People Power is no stranger to TreeHugger, having already developed apps for home energy management, and cloud-based energy management services.

The four companies were picked from a pool of 165,000 applicants to receive $115,000, business model design help, meetings with investors and help growing their fundraising efforts, among other things.
