UK: Bill Proposes to Show Car Emissions in Ads

Colin Challen, a british MP who chairs on the House of Commons climate change group, thinks that a quarter of the space in car ads should be given over to environmental impact data. "The manufacturers need to enlarge the small print. More and more consumers want to do their bit to combat climate change [...] A prominent display of this advice from the chief scientific advisor to the government would help us all make more informed and responsible choices." The bill will be presented to to parliament on Monday, October 30. We think it's a good idea. Information certainly is the minimum required for action, so the easier it is to find out about the environmental impact of the things that surround us, the better.
