TreeHugger Bikes Climate Ride: My Sexy Cayo 1.0 Road Bike From Focus Bikes (Photos)

I have now pedaled 174 miles over three days on the
Cayo 1.0 Road Bike From Focus Bikes
, and what can I say, this full-carbon bike is at the top of its class.

It's now approaching Day 4 of Brita Climate Ride NYC-DC 2011, a 300-mile, 5-day climate awareness bike ride and fundraiser from New York City to Washington, D.C., and I really can't say anything bad about this bike. I haven't even had a flat on my DT Swiss wheels (the tech crew dealt with a record 30 flats yesterday, of our crew of around 140 bikers).

Last year, I tested a bamboo bike from Organic Bikes, and the Cayo does feel a bit less jumpy, but I think it has more to do with the spec'd gears.

As I mentioned in a slideshow on Climate Ride bikes last week, the bike comes with a FSA cockpit and a full Shimano Ultegra group system, and shifting and breaking seem smooth and seamless. (On some of these hills the non-professional biking types would probably have wished for a granny gear to down shift further, but hey.)

And saddle-soreness seems to be at a minimum so far, thanks to the Prologo seat.

In summary, if you've got the $3,160 to spend, and don't have another bike you could upgrade, you just can't go wrong with this bike.

I did, however, hear that my cool-factor was greatly diminished sans bamboo...
