Perfect score!

Tesla's epic winning streak continues, with one more success under its belt: The Model S electric sedan received a perfect score after crash testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). 5 stars were awarded in every category, and the overall rating was also 5 stars (you can see the videos of the crash tests below).

This is entirely consistent with what Elon Musk said recently at the Teslive 2013 event, and what he's been saying from the very introduction of the Model S. He said that a little known fact about the Model S was that their main focus had been safety, and that if the car could get a 6-star rating, it would. But after audiences didn't react well to Musk talking about crash tests and safety at events, he kind of stopped mentioning it so much, but that doesn't change the fact that the Model S was engineered with active and passive safety at the top of the priority list.
