How Portland Mastered the Art of Transit-Oriented Development (Video)

Portland gets a lot of love from the green movement, and for good reason. By making use of a blend of transportation options (biking, aerial tram, pedestrian walkways, trolleys, etc) and cultivating an appealing aesthetic for each to coexist in, Portland has come up with a great model for transit-oriented development. The result is not only a cleaner, healthier city, but a more vibrant community as well. This great vid from Fast Company shows how the city did it--and how it will continue to push transit-oriented development into the future.

Lessons like this should prove invaluable to present and future city planners. And who would rather live in a homogeneous, isolated suburb than a vibrant community where you can walk anywhere? Get the full story over at Fast Company.
