Awaiting for Guinness World Records Certification

David Metcalf and his 12 years old son Adam just became the first people to drive a Tesla Model S electric car over 400 miles on a single charge. They actually got to 423.5 mi/681 km before they had to be towed, but the photo below was taken just after surpassing the 400 miles milestone. They also contacted the Guinness World Records organization which, according to David, "approved the attempt [but will need] 4-6 weeks to review the evidence" (which Tesla will help provide).

The Model S was the 85kWh model, which is officially rated at 265 miles by the EPA. The EV had no modifications except that the tires were inflated to higher-than-standard pressure. The achievement is truly all theirs, and they did it the old fashioned way, with careful driving on flat rural roads, with no A/C and windows cracked a few inches only.

Elon Musk tweeted to congratulate them, and Tesla Vice President George Blankenship gave them a call. Kudos David and Adam!
