Elon Musk: 2012 Model S Sold Out, Tesla Should Turn Profit in 2013

Tesla Motors' CEO Elon Musk was on Bloomberg TV today, facing some very skeptical business journalists. Are they right that Tesla won't make it, or are they just looking at the short-term while Elon and Tesla are looking at the longer-term? During the interview (see the video below) Elon revealed that all the Model S electric sedans that will be produced in 2012 - about 6,500 - have already been pre-sold and Tesla should turn a profit starting in 2013.

One thing is certain, Musk doesn't seem to feel very threatened by BYD right now. That might change in the future (notice how Hyundai went from the butt of jokes to a powerful challenger over the past few years), but we'll have to wait and see...
