Chevy Volt/Vauxhall Ampera Launch Sparks (Civil!) Debate in UK

All too often internet comment threads feel more like shouting matches than conversations. But with the Chevy Volt launching in the UK as the Vauxhall Ampera—briefly test driven in Robert Llewellyn's Fully Charged show—it seems to have actually sparked off a fairly civil debate in The Guardian about plug-in hybrids, electric cars, and the wisdom of subsidizing car purchases for the wealthy—however green. Sure, there are some trolls in the mix too—but it is good to see folks reasoning with each other and listening to what each person is saying. And while the Nissan LEAF may be outselling the Volt in the US, it's interesting to note that pre-launch interest in the Ampera has been such that Vauxhall increased their initial roll out from 8000 to 10,000.
