Autoebid: Cheaper Cars, Lower Emissions

Autoebid, one of the UK's leading websites for buying new cars, has launched a new service encouraging fuel-efficient purchases. By clicking on the somewhat oxymoronic "green cars" button, customers can create an initial shortlist based purely on vehicles' CO2 emissions. The customer can then select the car they want, decide on exact specifications, before searching for the best price from UK dealerships. The site is based on a "reverse auction" principle, which means that dealers compete to offer the lowest price to the customer, often resulting in large savings. In a bid to further cement their green credentials, for every customer that uses this service Autoebid are offering to offset 3 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions through Climate Care. Of course they are not yet offering bicycles as an alternative for the truly green, but it's a step in the right direction. [Written by: Sami Grover]
