London's Paramedic Cycling Response Unit

By now it should be pretty obvious that TreeHugger loves cycling. We’ve covered David Byrne’s thoughts on bikes, we’ve looked at the UK's rise in cycling holidays, and we’ve discussed the economic benefits of investing in bike-related infrastructure. Bikes can also save lives though. The above video is a report on London’s award winning paramedic cycling response unit. Much like cops on bikes, these paramedics are able to cut through traffic and reach scenes of accidents rapidly, and are often able to radio back and redirect ambulances elsewhere if they are not needed. Glad to see they are wearing their helmets. ::YouTube::via site visit::
