Her academic background includes journalism, environmental science, and Spanish language, with interests varying from traveling and foreign correspondence to surfing. A senior at American University, Valerie studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina for six months in 2010. The highlights of her trip include visiting the incredible Iguazú Falls and observing the unique wildlife in Península Valdés, Patagonia, Argentina. Valerie currently resides in Washington D.C.
