Meaghan O'Neill, Newport, R.I.

After a chance meeting with TreeHugger founder Graham Hill in Providence (what better location for serendipity?), Meaghan O'Neill joined Team TreeHugger in August 2004 as the site's then only writer. In the meantime, she was also covering green design and architecture (as well as other topics) for publications including Interior Design, Design New England, and I.D., among other print and web outlets. For a brief but beloved period of time, she served as managing editor of Boston Magazine. She later authored the Slate Green Challenge with TreeHugger (a 2006 National Magazine Award Nominee), had a baby, and co-wrote Ready, Set Green: Eight Weeks to Modern Living (TreeHugger's first book). In January 2008, she became editor of TreeHugger and PlanetGreen.com. When she's not editing-writing-skyping, she can be found hanging out with her husband, son, and the world's best dog, or skiing-sailing-kayaking (not at the same time, of course). She is a terrible typist, but not too bad at grammar. She hearts Twitter; you can follow her feed at msoeden.
