The Week in Pictures: US Approves First Offshore Wind Farm, Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico, and More (Slideshow)

From the news that the first offshore wind farm in the United States has finally been approved to the oil rig that exploded and sunk last week, that continues to leak 1,000 barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico ever day, a lot happened this week in green. The city of Cerro de Pasco, Peru, is being swallowed by an ever-expanding, open-pit zinc and lead mine; a recent study of ocean life near Greenland has turned up some 38 species of fish, and the U.S. military's F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet, dubbed the "Green Hornet", flew for 45 minutes using a 50/50 blend of regular jet fuel and camelina-based biofuel. Find out what else happened in the world of green this week in our photo roundup of most popular, most important, and most oddball stories.
