Best of Inhabitat: Last Minute Tips for a Green Christmas!

'Twas the day before Christmas Eve, when all through the prefab home
Not one person was ready, not even this gnome;
They'd been busy working and studying and living
Seems like only a second had passed since Thanksgiving!
But they knew they still wanted a green holiday
So they prepared to celebrate consciously - they could do a lot in just 1 day!
The tiniest one in the family looked on Inhabitat.com
For 5 easy tips to green the holidays to show dad and mom
They read all of the helpful hints and once they got the gist
It was a piece of cake to put together some earth-friendly last minute gifts
The teens searched their pockets and could only find dimes
So one made her own DIY gifts and the other gave gifts of time
Instead of wasteful paper they used festive cloth and tape
And to warm themselves up, they sat by their upcycled pine scrap fireplace
After all their green gifts were wrapped and ready to give
They put their heads together to come up with a Christmas tree alternative
Instead of using energy-intensive lights, they thought the choice was clear
They'd rather make a recycled tree out of 1,000 bottles of beer
Then Santa pulled up in his eco-sleigh - what a crazy sight!
And said "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a green night."
